No Such Thing as Safe Sex

We are careful not to use the term "Safe Sex" because it implies that sex is a safe act, when it really involves many risks. For instance:

--10% of all 15 to 19 year olds females become pregnant each year.

--Three million new cases of STD's among teens are reported each year.

--Up to 29% of sexually active adolescent girls have been found to be infected with Chlamydia.

--1 out of 5 sexually active teenage girls become pregnant in the first year of sexual activity.

It is important to understand that using protection only reduces the risk of pregnancy, which means that there is still a chance that a pregnancy might happen.
